A Closer Look

In this case study, I will be sharing my experience designing an end-to-end brand identity and website for a new home inspection business in the Tampa Bay area.

My goal was a site where homebuyers, sellers, and real estate agents could quickly understand the business' services, prices, and book an inspection without the guesswork.

UI & Website Design

the process

Before designing anything, I looked at other local home inspection websites. Two things stood out right away: First, they were packed with information customers don't need. Second, pricing was rarely clear. Most sites didn't share prices before a consultation, and the few that did buried them.

That shaped my top priority: transparency. Buying a home is one of the biggest and most stressful investments people make. If visitors could see exactly what Andrew offers and what it costs, that's one less thing to worry about, and it starts building trust.

Overview

Andrew had just earned his home inspector license and was ready to launch his own business. He knew a website mattered, but he needed someone to build it, along with a brand to put on it.

Logo

A house paired with a magnifying glass says "inspection" at a glance. Underneath, layered waves nod to Tampa Bay.

Colors

I built the palette from variations of blue. Blue reads as calm and trustworthy, which is exactly how I wanted people to feel during a stressful purchase.

Typography

The logo uses Alice, a classic serif that pairs naturally with the nautical elements and gives a brand-new business an established feel. The website uses Roboto.

Website

I chose Squarespace so Andrew, who doesn't have web design experience, could manage and update the site on his own. Other platforms have steeper learning curve.

the challenge

Andrew had noticed something about his competition. Many local home inspectors didn't have a website at all, and some that did often looked unprofessional. Others were built through an inspection software like Spectora, which meant an ongoing cost and sites that all looked the same.

He wanted to stand out from day one. Andrew isn't a design person, so he trusted me to lead the creative direction. We worked together on the business details like the name, services, email, and scheduling options, and every design decision was mine to make.

reflection

This project took me outside of healthcare, where I've spent most of my career, and that's a big part of why I'm proud of it. It showed me that the way I work, like listening for what people actually need, cutting through the noise, and designing around real routines, carries over to any industry.

Most of all, I'm proud to be helping a local business thrive. Once Andrew starts collecting client reviews, I plan to add them to the site to build even more trust.

design goals

Trust

I turn complex data into clear, visual stories that help communities and decision-makers understand what matters and why.

Clarity

PMP-certified and experienced at guiding creative projects from first idea to launch, keeping teams aligned and focused on impact.

Access

I design and manage websites and brand materials that feel cohesive, accessible, and true to the missions behind them.

Simplicity

From legislative briefings to community outreach, I craft messages in English and Spanish that connect with the audiences they're meant for.
